AtWork Personnel Branch Profile - Roseville, CA
No matter what industry business owners decide to enter, they will always have to deal with uncontrollable factors, but that’s a challenge that doesn’t stop Josephine Suryono. Suryono owns an AtWork Personnel office in Roseville, California, near her hometown of Rocklin, but the business world has long been part of her life. Armed with an MBA from UC Davis and experience as a business development manager, Suryono opened two locations with another franchise. However, in September 2017, she opened her AtWork office in Roseville where she serves Placer County, Sacramento County, and Elk Grove and focuses on the manufacturing industry, the insurance industry, and call center placements.
Suryono was initially drawn to the AtWork opportunity because of the potential scalability of the business and because she believed the work would be rewarding. The AtWork opportunity is also unique in that, because of the franchise development team and comprehensive week-long training that the corporate AtWork office offers, she didn’t need experience in the staffing industry to open her office. In fact, Suryono believes that her lack of staffing experience has actually given her an upper hand: “I think the fact that I did not have a staffing industry background is a plus! There are a lot of ‘bad habits’ or ‘bad practices’ in the staffing industry that compromise the quality of work and candidates. Our company has been able to win the market because we have a very high standard on delivery unlike most of our competitors.”
Suryono appreciates the connections she makes with both job candidates and her clients, and these connections have brought her to what she identifies as her greatest success as an AtWork owner: “We are able to serve our clients in a capacity that is more than a staffing agency. We serve as our clients’ HR department extension. Some of our clients have become exclusive with us and stopped working with other staffing agencies!” As an AtWork owner, Josephine Suryono is living the AtWork mission to be “AtWork for You,” and she loves serving her community in this capacity.
